In a thrilling start to the festive season a resident from Spring, Texas has claimed a whopping $1 million second-tier Mega Millions® prize. The winning ticket which was for the drawing held on December 1 was purchased from the Hardin Store Express located at 28303 Dobbin Huffsmith Road in Magnolia.
The lucky winner has elected to remain anonymous as is their right under Texas lottery rules.
The Winning Moment:
The Quick Pick ticket managed to match all five of the white ball numbers that were drawn (12-47-49-52-65) although it missed the Mega Ball number (12). This led to the claimant winning the second-tier Mega Millions® prize along with an extra win of $2.
How to Play Mega Millions
For those not familiar with the game, Mega Millions® requires players to select five numbers from a field of 70 and one Mega Ball number from a second field of 25 numbers. To hit the jackpot players must match all six numbers drawn including the Mega Ball.
Although missing out on a few numbers might not land you the grand prize you could still walk away with substantial winnings. The Mega Millions® game currently offers a $20 million starting jackpot and a second-tier (Match 5+0) prize of $1 million.
