Remember: If you are under the age of 18 years then you cannot be sold a lottery ticket. This does not prevent you from playing the lottery if you are underage and have been gifted a ticket by someone of legal age.
How to Claim West Virginia Lottery Prizes
Claim up to $600 or Free Plays
- Method 1 – Prizes up to $600 can be claimed in person by visiting any authorized retailer with a lottery terminal. Most should be able to pay out these amounts immediately.
Claim more than $600
- Method 1 – Visit either of the claim centers during opening hours in person to claim your prize. You should call in advance to make an appointment and bring with you any requested documentation including a completed claim form to save time.
- Method 2 – Mail a completed claim form plus a copy of your photo ID, copy of your SSC, mailing address and phone number to the claims address.

- 1984: The West Virginia Lottery is established through a constitutional amendment.
