Tips and Strategies

Want some tips and strategies to help you get the most out of your WV Lottery experience? Here are some that not only make the gaming more enjoyable but will help you play responsibly too.

  1. Ticket Prices: Try the quick-fire but lower prize tiers of cheaper tickets vs the higher risk and higher rewards of more expensive tickets for added variety.
  2. Think Winning Thoughts: It can pay to remain positive whether it affects the results or not. Remember playing the lottery is meant to be fun-first.
  3. Give Yourself a Second-Chance: You can potentially turn non-winning tickets into winners by entering second-chance drawings.
  4. Prize Tiers: Get to know the prize tiers of each game and remember you don't necessarily need to win the jackpot to get life-changing sums of money.
  5. Learn the Odds: Learn about the odd of winning on each game and make choices accordingly.
  6. Study Past Results: It's always fun to see if there are any patterns that emerge with draws.
  7. Change Your Numbers: Why not try some new numbers or move away from more predictable ones like birthdays.
  8. Post-Jackpot Gaming: After every big jackpot comes a sense of excitement which can make the next draw even more lucrative.
  9. Set a Budget: Whether you are winning or losing set yourself a budget and be sure to stick to it.
  10. Game Choice: Don't stick to the same games, explore other game styles to keep the variety.
  11. Claim Promptly: If you're lucky enough to win be sure to claim as soon as possible. Ticket loss, theft, damage and tardiness all void claims.
  12. Try Online: Though WV doesn't offer online play you can still enter multi-state games online.
