How to Buy New York Lottery Tickets

How to Claim New York Lottery Prizes
Claim $600 or below
- Method 1 – Any authorized New York Lottery retail location will be able to process your winnings.
- Method 2 – Make an appointment to visit the most convenient of the Customer Service Centers.
- Method 3 – Send your claim in the mail with a completed claim form and ID.
Claim $601 and above
- Method 1 - Make an appointment at your nearest Customer Service Center to claim your winnings.
- Method 1 - Visit a Prize Claim Center whenever convenient. You will not need to make an appointment at a Claim Center.
- Method 1 - Mail your form, ID and winning ticket.

Jackpot, Mega Millions and Powerball Claims
Jackpot wins, Mega Millions prizes over $500,000 and Powerball prizes over $50,000 will be sent to the Schenectady office for processing.

From Brooklyn, Utilda Ramsay won a $1,000 a Week For Life second prize in the New York Lottery's CASH4LIFE draw on March 7. Lottery Tax Guide
Taxation on New York Lottery winnings is not quite as straightforward as other states. Not only does the amount of tax vary based on US citizen status, but also the locality of residence. If you reside in New York you will pay an additional 3.87% on your total tax amount. Residents in Yonkers will see an additional 1.82% surcharge on their total.
