In an extraordinary twist of fate, Randall Morgan, a resident of Colt, Arkansas, secured a $1 million prize from the Powerball® drawing held on February 21. The momentous claim was made at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on the rare date of February 29.
The Lucky Purchase
Morgan’s life-changing ticket was bought at Flash Market #7025 located at 3400 N. Washington St. in Forrest City.
The Quick Pick method proved to be serendipitous for Morgan, as the machine selected the winning numbers 4, 27, 33, 41, and 42, with 14 as the Powerball number.
This routine stop at his preferred gas station for fuel and lottery tickets—usually favoring the 5-Buck Bundle—ended with the purchase of a singular, yet significant, Powerball ticket.
A Discovery by Chance
The win came as a complete surprise to Morgan when, on a subsequent visit to the gas station, he asked the clerk to check his old ticket. The clerk’s urging to head to Little Rock hinted at a win far beyond Morgan’s expectation—initially unknown to him was the exact prize amount, only that it exceeded $500.
Reaction to the Win
The realization of winning $1 million left Morgan astounded, humorously questioning his own health in the moment of disbelief. His previous highest win was a mere $2, making this jackpot particularly staggering. Only a select few know of Morgan’s fortune, including his skeptical oldest sister and her son, who joined him in celebrating at the claim center.
Despite the shock, Morgan is still undecided about the use of his winnings, while his sister has been inspired to try her luck with lottery tickets as well.
